MY GUYS 2025
I will die on these hills

By: Josh Frey-Sam
The autumn wind blows soon. Welcome to August, folks.
Wait… welcome to fantasy football.
We’re entering peak prediction season, where all of us put our stamps of optimism or doubt on teams and players.
Today’s brief is just that. I’ve already ripped through dozens of mock drafts across several formats, and these are the players I always find myself drawn to, whether it’s because of the value they present or because their situation appears to set up beautifully for fantasy production.
They aren’t the top draft picks in drafts. Calling Bijian Robinson or Ja’Marr Chase a My Guy is an easy out.
These are guys that, while many people are split on for one reason or another, I have a ton of conviction about the season I think they will have and see a clear path to a top fantasy season.
Without further ado, My Guys for 2025:
Quarterback: Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
Prescott has been slighted all off-season. There’s an idea out there that his future as the Cowboys’ starting quarterback seems to hinge on having a bounce-back season.
Whether that’s the case or not, the stars have seemed to align for him to do just that.
Dak is healthy again after missing the second half of last season with a hamstring that ripped off the bone.
He returns to a situation that has him poised for a big fantasy campaign. CeeDee Lamb is still a top-five receiver, and he now forms a tremendous tandem with newly acquired George Pickens, who gives the Cowboys a premier downfield threat.
There are also a ton of question marks surrounding Dallas’ rushing attack, which leaves me to wonder if this team’s success hinges on the arm of Prescott.
Making this situation all the more appealing, I’m not sure what to expect from this defence. We’ll take track meets all season long.
Let me remind everyone that since Dak became a starter in 2016, he’s had six seasons in which he’s played every game. In those seasons, he’s finished as a top-10 QB five times and a top-3 twice.
The fact that he’s being drafted as QB16 (10th round) right now is a travesty.
Others: Jordan Love, Trevor Lawrence
Running back: Roschon Johnson, Chicago Bears
Imagine a player with an ADP in the 12th round is a My Guy.
I love it.
To see a full breakdown of my stance with Roschon this season, read the recent Brief I wrote on him.
The synopsis of that write-up is that head coach Ben Johnson has a track record with guys like Roschon. He leans on them to set the tone and get the ball into the end zone.
Yes, D’Andre Swift could present a roadblock to a top fantasy finish, but if Roschon is getting the most valuable touches in this offence, he will be one of the pleasant surprises of 2025.
His talent has gone untapped since he’s been in the NFL. I think that changes.
Others: Jordan Mason, TreVeyon Henderson
Wide receiver: DK Metcalf, Pittsburgh Steelers
Let’s be real here, DK does not fit the mould of a traditional Aaron Rodgers receiver.
But he’s really all Rodgers has got this season, and I just can’t stress enough how important it is to be the No. 1 receiving option in a Rodgers-led offence.
As he’s gotten older, Rodgers tends to hyper-target the top receiver in an offence. Davante Adams in 2018 (27.5% of the team’s target share), 2019 (23.4% in 12 games), 2020 (29.7%) and 2021 (29.6%) was a ball hog with the Packers. Last year, Garrett Wilson from Weeks 1-7 (pre-Adams trade) was targeted on 29.6% of Rodgers’ throws. The rest of the season, Adams was targeted on 30.7% of his passes.
DK is in line for a big workload this season, and he’s going in the fifth round.
Others: Drake London, DJ Moore, Calvin Ridley
Tight end: Tyler Warren, Indianapolis Colts
If you’re going to pass on Brock Bowers, Trey McBride and George Kittle — all of whom I love this season — I believe Warren is poised to be a diamond you can find in the rough of your draft.
Head coach Shane Steichen and the rest of the organization have been clamouring for a tight end with Warren’s skillset for years, and they finally got it with the 14th pick in this year’s draft.
I don’t think they’ll waste much time putting him to use.
I can’t help but think we see Warren get a Bowers-esk type of treatment in this offence. His metrics in college were as good, if not better in some cases, than Bowers, and he’s already proven to be as good as advertised in training camp.
We could see him lineup all over the offence in an effort to get him the ball, which makes Warren an option with high-upside.
And I know what you’re thinking. No, I’m not worried about who will be throwing him the ball. They will get it in his hands.
Warren is the TE11 right now, going in the ninth round. There’s absolutely a world in which he’s a top-three option this season.
Others: Travis Kelce
Stack: Dak Prescott & CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys
The last time Dak and CeeDee were together for a full season:
A WR1 overall finish from Lamb, who caught 135 passes (181 targets) for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns, and a QB3 overall finish from Prescott, who tossed for over 4,500 yards and 36 touchdowns.
That was only in 2023.
I can’t wait to watch a healthy Prescott this season, and the presence of Pickens will do wonders for both Lamb and Prescott’s fantasy seasons.
Others: Trevor Lawrence & Brian Thomas Jr., Jacksonville Jaguars
Thanks for reading and, as always, have a great day.
