Summer Series: Green Bay Packers

Fantasy insights with Andy Herman

A top 10 quarterback, uncertainty at running back and a streamlined receiving corps. This is the 2026 Green Bay Packers.

The Packers are one of the most interesting teams in the NFL when it comes to fantasy football. They have talent down the depth chart that should be owned, but unlike many other top teams in the league, it remains a bit of a mystery about which players we should actually target.

That is reflected in many players’ current ADP, which makes the Packers one of the most exciting teams to find value on this season.

I got some answers to these questions after speaking with beat writer Andy Herman of the Pack-A-Day podcast.

Below are a few key takeaways that I had from our conversation, but if you’d like to hear everything Andy said, listen to the audio above.

What is the case for Matthew Golden to be a solid fantasy contributor this season?

Takeaway: It’s tough to project Matthew Golden’s ceiling this year, but there’s no doubt that he’s poised for a breakout. While Andy expects that we’ll still see Matt LaFleur rotate his receivers a fair bit, there is a clear top three in Christian Watson, Jayden Reed and Golden.

There is also a fair bit of uncertainty around the health of some Packers players. Watson’s lengthy injury history is notable, Reed missed most of last season with a foot and shoulder injury, Josh Jacobs has a legal situation waiting to be resolved, and Tucker Kraft is coming off a torn ACL. There is reason to believe that Golden could turn into one of Jordan Love’s most reliable targets if he can just stay on the field.

It might not be a 1,000+-yard, 10-touchdown season for Golden, but for a guy who is currently going in the 13th round of drafts, his opportunity and production present tremendous value at his current price.

Are we undervaluing Jayden Reed?

Takeaway: When Jayden Reed is healthy, he has the most defined role in the Packers offence as a slot receiver with a skillset that allows LaFleur to manufacture touches for him.

With that said, Andy said it wouldn’t surprise him if Reed led the Packers in targets by the end of the season.

Reed is currently going in the 10th round of drafts. While he might never be an elite fantasy option, his role in the offence gives him a relatively high floor for a 10th-round pick.

How confident are you that Tucker Kraft returns to last year’s form after a torn ACL?

Takeaway: Very confident. A year ago, Christian Watson was in the same spot and proceeded to look like the best version of himself that we’ve seen. Tucker Kraft has already said he anticipates being back Week 1 without any limitations, and all signs point to him resuming his role as a major piece of the Packers’ offence.

Who is the running back to own if Josh Jacobs’ legal situation takes a turn for the worse?

Takeaway: In the event the Packers don’t sign anyone else, it would clearly be Marshawn Lloyd and Chris Brooks as the team’s top two RBs. Lloyd, however, is a guy the Packers have been waiting — and itching — to use since drafting him. He has elite juice that can be leveraged in the run and passing game. Brooks, meanwhile, is a terrific pass-protector but doesn’t offer the same upside as Lloyd.

It stands to reason that Lloyd would be the early-down back and Brooks would spell him as needed. But nothing is guaranteed with Lloyd’s injury history.

As it stands, Brooks presents more value to the Packers than he does to your fantasy team.

Lloyd is literally going undrafted right now. Of course, if Jacobs’ situation gets worse, he will rise very quickly.

Thanks for reading and, as always, have a great day.
