Mock Draft Monday
2QB, half-PPR

By: Josh Frey-Sam
Another Monday, another mock draft.
Today, I shook it up by drafting for a 2QB, half-PPR league, then determined my draft position by asking my girlfriend to choose a number between 1 and 12. Naturally, she chose 12.
So, that took us out of the running for the top QBs. I enjoy 2QB leagues, though, because the guys at the back of the first round can still get a pretty good deal in selecting some upper-echelon position players.
Even drafting against the computer, this happened to me.
Take a look and, as always, check below for a little breakdown about what went through my mind while this was shaking out.

1.12; 2.1 - Being at the turn, I had to take a QB here. Baker Mayfield was the best option on the board by a wide margin, in my opinion. After that, I had my pick of some really good options at WR, RB and TE. The way I look at it, CeeDee Lamb is a top-three option at WR this season, and has legitimate potential to go 1st overall in standard leagues.
3.12; 4.1 - Had no interest in the available WRs at this spot. The 3rd-4th round is a real dead zone for pass-catchers in drafts this year. I considered Kyler Murray here, but was far more interested in scooping up a pair of underrated RBs in Josh Jacobs and Chase Brown. I think both are simply going to be rock-solid assets this season. Both can contribute in the run and pass game, and are used in the red zone. Perhaps Brown doesn’t have the upside of some players, but his floor is solid and he’ll be a safe RB2.
5.12; 6.1 - Though about Brock Purdy and Trevor Lawrence here, but it became an easy decision to stack Dak Prescott with Lamb. If Prescott remains healhty the rest of the off-season, he could be a crazy steal. His track record, ability and situation all make him a green light. I followed that up with DK Metcalf, who I think is being underrated for fantasy purposes. He’s gonna be peppered with targets as the unquestioned No. 1.
7.12; 8.1 - There comes a point in every draft where a player just slides too far. This was the case for both DeAndre Swift and Travis Kelce. Swift is going to be the No. 1 rusher in Ben Johnson’s offence - enough said. Say what you want about Kelce, he presents a floor that not many TEs have. He’s a very safe and reliable option at this point in the draft.
9.12; 10.1 - I wrestled with whether I should grab Jayden Reed here. Went with Calvin Ridley first. There will be questions about whether Cam Ward can support a legitimate fantasy weapon, but that’s a risk I’m willing to take in the 9th round. Followed that up with Juwaun Jennings, who, don’t forget, has an incredible connection with Brock Purdy. A lot of people are expecting a Year 2 breakout from Ricky Pearsall, but history would say Purdy is not going to disregard Jennings.
11.12; 12.1 - Javonte Williams is a starting running back. Regardless of what you think his production might be, you take him here based on the volume alone. Followed with Jack Bech, one of my favourite rookies fantasy-wise this season. He’s going to contribute immediately.
13.12 - Little Geno Smith/ Jack Bech stack, anyone? Geno is just a safe QB3. A great depth option to have.
Thanks for reading and, as always, have a great day.
