Mock draft!
12-team, full-PPR, 3WRs

By: Josh Frey-Sam
It’s getting more real — as real as fantasy can get.
Strategies and opinions are crystallizing and then shattering with every injury update in training camp.
I continue to experiment in my mock drafts, but they are taking on a more realistic path by the day.
That brings us to today’s Brief.
We’re three weeks out from peak draft season, so I thought now would be a good time to bust out another mock.
This time I got some help from a friend.
We’ve been running through different league formats and draft slots for weeks, and today was another switch-up: 12 teams, full-PPR, 3WRs.
He picked at the 1.03. I selected at the 1.05.
I will give some overall thoughts below.

Overall, I like how my team turned out, but I would argue it lacks true upside.
It’s not often I’m looking running back in the first round of a full-PPR or a 3WR league. But, as I said, there’s still a hint of experimenting I’m doing these days, so I opted for the hero-RB approach.
Plus, Bijan is a pretty good RB to take this approach with in this league format. He’s involved plenty in the passing game.
I wanted Drake London with my second pick, but passed on him because I already had Bijan and didn’t want that much stock in Atlanta’s offence.
I want as many catching opportunities as possible, so I went with Ladd McConkey and Garrett Wilson, who are both going to be hyper-targeting this season.
Courtland Sutton feels like one of the safest picks in fantasy this year. His ceiling might be limited, but he’s going to have enough opportunities to give him one of the highest floors of any receiver this season. And who knows, maybe that cieling raises with Bo Nix in his second season.
Love grabbing TreVeyon Henderson in the fifth round. I can’t help but think of 2018 James White, who finished as the RB8 overall in a similar role under Josh McDaniel that Henderson will play this year. And the rookie is far and away the better talent. He’s going to catch a ton of passes.
Calvin Ridley in the sixth is one of my favourite picks this season. I just don’t see a world in which he has fewer than 130 targets. The Titans are going to be passing a ton, and he’s the clear WR1.
One thing about the Ridley pick — I was more than okay having him on my team, but in hindsight, I should have chosen Travis Kelce. Kelce is going to be a monster for PPR this season, and it’ll only get better once Rashee Rice is suspended.
One final note on my roster: you’ll notice I selected Tory Horton for my final pick. I’m not suggesting you do the same in your leagues — maybe, if you’re in a 14-team league with a similar format — but keep Horton in the back of your mind as this season begins.
He was one of my favourite Day 3 picks in the NFL Draft, and I think he has an opportunity to carve out a solid role in Seattle’s offence by the end of the year, especially if there’s an injury to a guy like Cooper Kupp.
Horton is making a ton of plays in camp and impressing the coaching staff. If this continues in game action, he could force his way onto the field by Week 1.
As for my friend’s draft, I loved his start. Lamb and London are two of my favourite WRs this season, while Chase Brown and Alvin Kamara are the perfect RBs to land in full-PPR formats. Now, I probably would’ve selected Jameison Williams over Tet McMillan in the fifth round (higher upside), but I still like TMac there.
He followed that up with my tight end, My Guy, Tyler Warren, and Dak Prescott to complete my favourite stack of the season.
Also, Dylan Sampson in the 13th is a tremendous pick that could pay immediate dividends with Quinshon Judkins’ future in question.
Thanks for reading and, as always, have a great day.
