Got my guy

Update on The People's dynasty team

By: Josh Frey-Sam

We got busy on Wednesday evening.

Earlier this week, I wrote about how bullish I was on Washington Commanders rookie WR Antonio Williams making an immediate impact this season, and how I would target him in dynasty leagues before your leaguemates catch on to the glorious opportunity he could have.

Well, I put those words into action, pulling off a trade with one of the contending teams in my league while I continue to look for ways to expedite the rebuilding process for the team I inherited last month.

The deal looked like this:

Frankly, I’m over the moon about this deal. I got younger — and better in the long term — for relatively cheap.

I thought getting Williams for a 2-3 pick swap in next year’s draft was solid. I get a player who I’m high on while maintaining five picks in what should be a loaded draft class next season.

I like JK Dobbins in redrafts this year, but he was never going to be a part of this team’s future, and I had been planning on finding the right time to deal him. I also have Jonah Coleman on my roster, which could prove to pay dividends at some point this season if Dobbins goes down.

The fact that I managed to get a younger RB — albeit a backup — in exchange for Dobbins was a win in my books.

Bigsby is the asset I’m really intrigued about. He was more of a flier that I was ok taking a chance on because of the situation he’s entering in Philadelphia.

Bigsby was traded from the Jags to the Eagles early last season and wound up playing second-fiddle to Saquon Barkley on a struggling offence. He still managed 58 carries for 344 yards (5.8 yards per tote) and two touchdowns.

Now, he enters 2026 with relatively lofty expectations for a player who is the backup to a star RB.

Part of the reason I like taking the chance on Bigsby right now is that he’s in a contract year, which should lend some extra motivation as he looks to secure a bag — likely from another team in free agency — next off-season.

The expectation is that Bigsby won’t play a traditional backup role. Barkley remains the unquestioned starter and focal point of the rushing attack, but new offensive co-ordinator Sean Mannion could look to give Bigsby more run to keep Barkley fresh for the long haul.

And based on what Bigsby did last season, Mannion has every reason to get the 2023 third-round pick involved more. Bigsby isn’t Barkley, but he is tough, and he can be explosive, as demonstrated in 2025.

If he can garner 120 touches this season, I think I could wind up being very happy with this deal.

There’s a chance that Bigsby raises his stock a bit this season and either finds himself in a timeshare next season that is intriguing enough to hold onto him, or one where I can deal him for a profit.

In a corresponding move to comply with the roster limits, I dropped Jerry Jeudy. I don’t think I need to explain why he was the casualty.

Here’s where our team is at following Wednesday’s transaction:

Slowly but surely, folks. We’ll get there.

Thanks for reading and, as always, have a great day.
